CodeMap® Compliance Briefing: January 13, 2022
Editor's Welcome:
Happy New Year, and welcome to the first CodeMap® Compliance Briefing of 2022. In late December 2021, the Office of Inspector General of the DHHS (OIG) published its annual report concerning Medicare payments for clinical laboratory services made in 2020. Not surprisingly, the pandemic and resultant laboratory testing for the COVID-19 virus had a significant effect on the amounts and types of testing paid for by the Medicare program in 2020. This week, we will examine the latest OIG report and the major impact the pandemic had on lab testing for Medicare beneficiaries in 2020. As always, please forward any questions, suggestions, or comments to us via email.
