CodeMap® Compliance Briefing: March 11, 2020
Editor's Welcome: In recent weeks, media reports have been dominated by the global spread and impact of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). These reports include news about the development and distribution of clinical laboratory tests to detect the virus. The FDA and CMS have been active in making COVID-19 testing available throughout the country. The FDA has issued instructions to laboratories for how to test for the virus under their Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) and CMS has created two new HCPCS codes for use in billing COVID-19 tests. Today's CodeMap® Compliance Briefing will explore these developments in greater detail. Next week, we will discuss associated diagnosis codes. As always, please forward any questions, comments, or suggestions to us via email.
