CodeMap® Compliance Briefing: September 22, 2016
Editor's Welcome: If you watched any of the Olympics coverage, you surely heard repeatedly about the Zika virus and its serious health implications. As more cases are reported in the United States, a number of labs are now offering both antibody and antigen tests for the Zika virus. Although CMS and its contractors have yet to create formal and specific coverage policy for such testing, CMS has indicated that testing for the Zika infection will be covered so long as patients present with symptoms and a history of exposure. Today, we will review current Medicare coverage and payment policy concerning Zika virus testing, and the associated procedure and diagnosis codes. As always, please submit any questions and/or comments via email.
Sincerely....
