This week we will explore a topic that we last discussed about 2 years ago, the HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP). The reason we are revisiting this aspect of HIPAA compliance is that we continue to see NPPs that do not fully comply with applicable regulations. Many hospitals and clinical laboratories post their NPPs on public websites, which is completely appropriate. However, many laboratories failed to update those NPPs back in 2014 as required by the then recently implemented HIPAA Omnibus Rule.
