CodeMap® Compliance Briefing: September 30, 2015
Editor's Welcome: At the July 2015 Lab Payment Meeting, CMS proposed to delete all current drug testing G codes, continue to not recognize the new AMA CPT® codes, and create a single G code for presumptive testing and a single G code for definitive testing. Last Friday, after a concerted effort by many stakeholders to provide more appropriate alternative codes and pricing, CMS issued new HCPCS codes and proposed pricing as part of the Preliminary Determinations for the 2016 Medicare Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule (CLFS). The new codes and payments, as summarized below, generally follow stakeholder coding recommendations, but result in significant reductions in reimbursement from current levels. As always, please communicate any questions or comments via email.
