In the last few years, the federal government has launched more investigations and enforcement actions concerning clinical laboratories than we have seen since the late 1990s. As most of you have probably read and/or heard, HDL laboratories of Richmond, Virginia recently entered into a settlement agreement with the federal government for $47 million. Just about every trade publication, law firm, and federal agency remotely connected to the clinical laboratory industry has reported this enforcement action.
