In previous CodeMap® Compliance Briefings, we have discussed the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014 (PAMA), and its significant impact on how Medicare will eventually pay for clinical laboratory testing. This far reaching legislation also includes provisions that will affect how Medicare develops coverage policies for laboratory testing. On July 3, 2014, CMS released the Proposed 2015 Physician Fee Schedule Rule, which includes proposed regulations concerning the development of Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs) for laboratory tests.
