Editor's Welcome: The 2009 CPT includes a new subsection titled "In Vivo (eg, Transcutaneous) Laboratory Procedures," which replaces the former subsection introduced in 2001 which was simply called "Transcutaneous Procedures." Today we will discuss the new codes designated as in vivo lab tests and how they differ from patient monitoring procedures found in the Medicine section of the CPT.
