CodeMap® Compliance Briefing: 1/26/07: The Deficit Reduction Act of 2005
Editor's Welcome:
Although the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (DRA) became law at the beginning of last year, many of its provisions are just now becoming effective. Upon its enactment, the federal government predicted the DRA would reduce federal spending by as much as $39 billion over a five-year period. The DRA and its ambitious goals will eventually affect almost all providers that treat Medicare and/or Medicaid beneficiaries. This week's briefing will discuss the relevant provisions of the act concerning primarily providers of diagnostic services.
Next week, we will discuss the soon to be required National Provider Identifiers (NPIs) and the associated consequences for our subscribers. As always, feel free to email any questions, comments, or suggestions.
Sincerely,
Gregory Root, Esq.
