CodeMap Compliance Briefing: 4/28/2006
Editor's Welcome:
A number of our clinical laboratory subscribers have recently posed questions concerning the billing of test interpretations purchased from other providers. Primarily they have asked whether it is appropriate to submit a claim to Medicare for diagnostic test interpretations performed by unrelated physicians. This week we will discuss the Medicare regulations that govern this practice. In addition, we will review the basic direct billing rules that apply to clinical laboratories because these provisions are closely related to Medicare's rules concerning the billing of purchased test interpretations.
Sincerely,
Gregory Root, Esq.
