Most Medicare payment amounts may only be adjusted according to established statutes and regulations or by special Congressional action. However, CMS now has the authority to make changes on its own by using the principle of "inherent reasonableness". Today we will discuss the final rule defining inherent reasonableness and the complicated process which must be followed in order to actually change an existing Medicare payment.
