Many physician practices perform anti-coagulation, diabetes, and lipid monitoring testing for their patients. Often, the patient will visit these offices and only see a non-physician practitioner who performs the testing and associated monitoring services. Questions often arise concerning if and how the practice may bill limited office visits for these patients that do not see a physician. Today we will attempt to explain the rules applying to "incident to" services and how they affect billing of both laboratory and professional services provided to patients by non-physician practitioners.
