Welcome back from the 4th of July holiday. Today we will discuss new CPT codes for laboratory and pathology procedures that will become effective January 1, 2005. From now until the end of the year we will learn more about these codes and the corresponding Medicare reimbursement as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the American Medical Association (AMA) work out the details for the 2005 CPT and Medicare fee schedules. Remember that next year there will be no three month grace period for new CPT codes. All providers must be prepared to start using 2005 CPT codes January 1, 2005.
