On July 28th, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) held their annual meeting to hear recommendations on the assignment of payment levels for new and revised CPT codes. Laboratory professional associations including AACC, ACLA, AdvaMed, ASM, CAP, and CLMA presented comments on how the new CPT codes for 2004 should be reimbursed. CMS Public Meeting: Payment for New Lab Tests for 2004
Six new codes will be included in the 2004 CPT and the 2004 Medicare Laboratory Fee Schedule that become effective Jan 1, 2004.
